In the context of the rapid development of digital economy, the deep integration of cultural industry and tourism industry has become an important engine to promote the high-quality development of the economy. This paper constructs an evaluation index system for the development of cultural industry and tourism industry based on the panel data of 31 provincial-level administrative regions in China from 2015 to 2024. The coupling coordination degree model is used to quantify the integration level of the two, combined with the spatial econometric model to analyze their economic effects and influencing factors. During the period of 2015-2024, the coupling coordination degree of China's cultural and tourism integration shows an overall upward trend, but is subject to the epidemic impact showing phased fluctuations. Spatially, the level of cultural and tourism integration shows the clustering characteristic of “East high, West low”. The spatial spillover effect of the integrated development of culture and tourism significantly reduces the income gap between urban and rural areas, and the direct and indirect effects both converge negatively, with coefficients of -0.1863 and -0.0756 respectively.
