The growing concerns regarding environmental degradation, resource scarcity, and sustainable development have accelerated the transition from traditional linear economic models toward Circular Economy (CE) practices across industries worldwide. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which constitute a significant proportion of India's industrial ecosystem, are increasingly being encouraged to adopt sustainable business models to improve resource efficiency and environmental performance. The Circular Economy framework promotes the reduction, reuse, recycling, remanufacturing, and recovery of resources, thereby creating economic value while minimizing environmental impact. This study examines the relationship between Circular Economy adoption, organizational performance, and competitive advantage among Indian SMEs. Drawing upon the Resource-Based View, Stakeholder Theory, and Dynamic Capability Theory, the study investigates how CE practices contribute to operational efficiency, innovation capability, financial performance, and long-term competitiveness. The paper synthesizes contemporary literature and develops a conceptual framework illustrating the pathways through which Circular Economy initiatives influence organizational outcomes. Findings from existing empirical studies suggest that CE adoption positively affects productivity, cost efficiency, environmental performance, and market competitiveness. However, challenges such as financial limitations, technological barriers, inadequate awareness, and policy implementation gaps continue to hinder widespread adoption among SMEs. The study provides practical recommendations for managers, policymakers, and researchers seeking to accelerate sustainable industrial transformation in India.
