Abstract

This paper provides a comparative evaluation of the print quality between coated and non-tearable (NTR) papers printed using the Liquid Electrophotography (LEP) process. The study aims to evaluate how different substrate characteristics influence print performance and image reproduction quality in LEP printing. Since coated gloss and non-tearable papers are widely used for commercial and specialty printing applications understanding their print behavior is important for selecting most suitable substrates for high-quality digital production. A master test chart will be printed on both substrates under controlled printing conditions using an LEP based digital printing system. The evaluation of print quality will be performed through objective measurement and comparative analysis of two print quality parameters including Solid Ink Density (SID) and Tone Value Increase (TVI). These parameters will be evaluated to determine color strength, tonal reproduction, color accuracy and overprint efficiency of both substrates. The measurements will be carried out under M-1 measurement conditions. The study aims to identify which substrate provides better print quality performance in terms of image sharpness, color consistency, tonal stability and print reproduction quality in the LEP process. The research will explore possible future improvements in substrate properties and digital printing materials to enhance print performance and optimize print quality for industrial and commercial applications.
