Academic procrastination is a common phenomenon among students in most educational fields, especially for medical students. This paper explores the relationship between academic stress and academic procrastination among medical students, as well as the roles of mental health issues and campus belongingness in this relationship. A total of 2,611 medical students in Wenzhou were surveyed through online questionnaires. They were evaluated and analyzed using the learning stress scale, academic procrastination scale, mental health problem scale, and campus belongingness scale. There were extremely significant differences (p<0.001, p<0.05) in mental health issues, academic stress, and campus belongingness among male and female medical students. Academic stress, mental health problems, campus belongingness, and academic procrastination were all correlated with each other in pairs. Mental health problems played a partial mediating role between academic stress and academic procrastination. At the same time, campus belongingness significantly moderated the influence of mental health problems on academic procrastination. That is, when mental health problems are low, campus belongingness in universities can alleviate the occurrence of academic procrastination.
