Abstract

This research was conducted to identify the factors affecting strategic flexibility by examining the impact of Organizational Mindfulness and its dimensions (preoccupation with failure, reluctance to simplify procedures, sensitivity to processes, commitment to flexibility, respect for expertise) on strategic flexibility and its dimensions (coordination, resources, and planning). This was based on the study problem, which attempts to answer a fundamental question: What is the role of Organizational Mindfulness in enhancing strategic flexibility in the organization under study? And does it truly contribute to activating its strategic flexibility to face rapid environmental changes? The research included 210 respondents, from administrative leaders in the upper and middle management of the University of Mosul, one of the Iraqi public universities, being the largest in the northern region of Iraq. The data were analyzed using the structured equation model with AMOS software. 26. To test the hypotheses, the results showed that Organizational Mindfulness has an impact on strategic resilience. The dimensions of Organizational Mindfulness —namely, sensitivity to processes, commitment to flexibility, and respect for experiences focused on environmental adaptation—were more influential on strategic resilience than preoccupation with failure and reluctance to simplify procedures, which represent psychological aspects of the feelings of the leaders studied. The research was conducted at one of the largest universities in northern Iraq. Further research is needed on the behavioral aspects of administrative leaders in Iraqi universities to enhance their role in the Iraqi economy. This research offers a new perspective by identifying the most influential dimensions of Organizational Mindfulness in strategic.
