The rapid advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping the global healthcare industry by revolutionizing clinical practices, administrative processes, patient engagement, and healthcare business models. Unlike conventional Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI possesses the capability to create human-like text, images, medical reports, predictive insights, and decision-support systems, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and improving healthcare outcomes. This study aims to examine the transformative role of Generative AI in the healthcare sector from a business perspective by exploring its applications, opportunities, challenges, and strategic implications. The research adopts a qualitative exploratory approach based on an extensive review of recent literature published between 2021 and 2026 from peer-reviewed journals, industry reports, and international organizations. The findings indicate that Generative AI has significant potential to optimize hospital operations, automate clinical documentation, accelerate drug discovery, support personalized medicine, improve diagnostic accuracy, enhance telemedicine services, strengthen customer engagement, and facilitate data-driven decision-making. Furthermore, the technology contributes to cost reduction, improved service quality, increased organizational agility, and the development of innovative healthcare business models. However, widespread adoption is constrained by concerns related to data privacy, cybersecurity, algorithmic bias, ethical governance, regulatory compliance, workforce readiness, and the need for transparent and explainable AI systems. Based on the analysis, the study proposes a strategic framework for the responsible adoption of Generative AI in healthcare organizations, emphasizing technology integration, governance, regulatory compliance, workforce capability development, and patient-centric innovation. The paper contributes to the emerging body of knowledge by providing comprehensive insights into how Generative AI is transforming the future of healthcare businesses while balancing technological advancement with ethical responsibility. The findings offer practical implications for healthcare managers, policymakers, technology providers, researchers, and practitioners seeking to leverage Generative AI for sustainable business transformation and improved healthcare delivery.
