Abstract

Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) is a central optimization problem in modern power system operation, aiming to minimize generation costs while satisfying operating constraints. The respective paper presents a new data-driven technique developed to tackle the ELD problem in specific cases of Libya. In our implementation we use the Jaya Optimization Algorithm (JOA) algorithm‚ which is a simple and parameter-free metaheuristic․ In this model‚ a 24-hour load profile is included in addition to the quadratic function‚ fuel cost function‚ and generator limits that reflect reality․ Then‚ JOA is compared to PSO and WOA․ The experimental results show that JOA has a shorter computational time and superior solution quality and stability in comparison to PSO and WOA․ Analysis of the two alternative fuels demonstrated that switching to heavy fuel is cost-effective‚ and that JOA provides a good quality heuristic for practical ELD problems.
