The growing deployment of isolated renewable energy systems has significantly increased the utilization of Self-Excited Induction Generators (SEIGs) because of their simple construction, ruggedness, low maintenance requirements, and cost-effective operation. However, SEIGs inherently suffer from poor voltage regulation, frequency deviation, harmonic distortion, and reactive power imbalance when subjected to nonlinear, unbalanced, and dynamically varying loads, thereby limiting their practical applicability in standalone power generation. This paper presents an intelligent control strategy for enhancing the power quality of an SEIG-based autonomous generation system using a Synchronous Reference Frame Theory (SRFT)-based voltage source converter integrated with a photovoltaic-assisted battery energy storage system. The proposed control framework continuously estimates the fundamental voltage and current components, regulates the DC-link voltage, compensates reactive power demand, and suppresses harmonic currents through adaptive reference current generation and pulse-width modulation. A comprehensive MATLAB/Simulink model is developed to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed controller under different operating scenarios, including balanced, nonlinear, and sudden load variations. The proposed approach demonstrates superior voltage stability, reduced total harmonic distortion, faster transient response, improved power factor, and enhanced dynamic performance, thereby ensuring reliable and high-quality power delivery for standalone renewable energy applications.
