Intelligent CCTV Surveillance Systems: Analysis Recent Trends and Challenges

Abstract

There are lot of video footage come into the picture from many social media sources related to daily societal problems. These video footage or clips look sometime too horrible and pathetic to see the situation where no instant solutions reflect. These societal issues attract the attention of researchers and practitioner for deep thinking about the solutions. Recent surveillance system is presented as a transformative and effective solution to the limitations of conventional system. Conventional surveillance system could not process their paramount videos on time to prevent accidents or any incidents. To address such issues there is urgent requirement to focus attention on digital based advanced solutions. As technology rising, the demand of advance surveillance system also increases to alert the user about the abnormal situations when they are about to happen. Sometime, it is not applicable in real time environment due to privacy and security issues with CCTV surveillance system found with default password and easy to access for the person with malpractice intention. This research explores the burgeoning realm of the intelligent surveillance system with embedded modules and explainable AI for various advancement. Explainable AI and advanced machine learning algorithms could also make the system more accurate, transparent and accountable for real time behaviours as proactive surveillance. This article critically analyses the challenges related with intelligent surveillance system, including algorithmic bias, ethics and privacy issues related individuals. Overall, aim of this study is to propose a framework for proactive surveillance system that emphasis on regulatory safeguard, accountability and transparency in real time. The paper concludes with future directions and highlights the need for continuous research on the current issues and harness its complete potential for betterment of the sustainable society development.
