Digital Health Transformation: Stakeholder Perspectives on Adoption, Barriers, and Healthcare Innovation

Abstract

The current study examines awareness, attitudes, and adoption among healthcare professionals, policymakers, and technology developers on innovative health technologies in the Philippines. A mixed-methods approach was used through a descriptive-correlational survey, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions to assess factors influencing the integration of digital health solutions. There was a high awareness level of 82% and positive attitudes of mean = 4.3 toward digital health technologies, which were particularly held by healthcare professionals at 89% awareness levels. However, the adoption rate was lower among healthcare professionals (65%), policymakers (52%), and technology developers (47%). Major barriers identified include financial constraints, lack of standardized policies, inadequate technological infrastructure, and workforce readiness. Knowledge was also seen to influence attitudes and adoption very strongly. It calls for continuous education and capacity-building programs. The importance of clear regulatory frameworks, inter-sectoral collaboration, and investment in both digital and physical infrastructures to improve the scalability and effectiveness of health innovations is well brought out. This would provide insightful findings for policymakers and stakeholders to improve the integration of digital health technologies leading to more equitable and efficient healthcare delivery in the Philippines. Future research should consider the long-term impact of capacity-building initiatives and what role government funding plays in scaling digital health solutions.
