Abstract

For companies to compete in a tech-driven business landscape, digital transformation is a major strategic initiative they need to take on. The application of AI, cloud computing, data analytics, automation, digital platforms and other innovative technologies is driving change in business processes, and also in the nature of work, skills and expectations of workers. The study explores how digital transformation influences an organisation's adaptability of its workforce through the lens of strategic alignment among its functions of finance, human resources and marketing. The study delves into how these three functions can work together to respond to technological change, instead of digital transformation as an isolated technological initiative. Finance adds value by allocating resources based on data; by the use of digital financial systems; by investment decisions; HR contributes by reskilling the workforce; supporting employee engagement; developing talent; and by supporting change readiness; and marketing adds value by providing customer intelligence; digital engagement; and market responsiveness. The study considers a characteristics of the organization to be adaptability of the labour force, which includes technological competence, an orientation towards learning, flexibility and openness to new working practices. It also looks at the relationship between the financial priorities, human capabilities, and the market needs, and how cooperation across functions can connect the three. We can expect to see the results highlight the need to accept technology and to create a flexible workforce, as well as to integrate good practices into digital transformation. The study centers on the following themes: the need for ongoing learning, interactive decision making, data-based decision making, and employee-focused change practices. It discovers that greater organizational resilience, strategic agility and sustainable value creation in digitally transforming business models can be achieved when finance, HR and marketing are more aligned.
