An AI-Driven Enterprise Integration Architecture for Financial Services: Integrating Oracle SOA, Oracle EBS, Apache Kafka, and Cloud-Native Platforms

Abstract

Oracle SOA Suite and Oracle EBS remain the integration backbone of many financial institutions, platforms built for governance and process fidelity, not for the throughput volumes and real-time intelligence demands of modern financial services. This paper argues that augmenting these platforms with Apache Kafka event streaming, cloud-native elastic infrastructure, and an embedded AI intelligence layer produces a hybrid Enterprise Integration Architecture (EIA) that closes the performance gap without displacing the governance investment already encoded in Oracle middleware. A Design Science Research (DSR) evaluation framework governs architecture construction and prototype testing across throughput, latency, availability, and error-reduction dimensions. Results confirm that the hybrid architecture sustains transaction processing under peak and stress workloads where SOA-only configurations exhibit throughput degradation and queue overflow. Event-Driven Architecture reduces error rates by approximately 34% and response time by approximately 19% compared with synchronous API-driven approaches under equivalent load conditions. AI-based anomaly detection achieves an F1 score of 0.92, processes 150,000 records per second at under 100 milliseconds detection latency, and generates advance warning signals 8–12 minutes before observable service degradation. The architecture is presented as an operationally viable modernisation path for financial institutions that cannot afford the compliance and business continuity risks of full system replacement.
