Abstract

Mobile commerce applications increasingly rely on identity verification to gate age-restricted purchases, financial actions, account recovery, and regulated transactions, yet the verification step itself rarely completes within a single request-response cycle. A user may finish document capture in seconds while the evaluating provider continues processing for minutes, and during that interval the mobile application must preserve context, tolerate network loss, and avoid submitting the same request twice. This article proposes an architecture that treats asynchronous identity verification as an explicit orchestration problem rather than a thin wrapper around a third-party software development kit. Four elements are integrated: a secure SDK lifecycle boundary that isolates provider-specific behavior behind an internal abstraction; a state-oriented workflow model that governs every transition a verification session can undergo; an adaptive polling and event-driven retrieval mechanism that balances responsiveness against network and server load; and a fault-tolerant recovery layer built on idempotent request handling and persisted workflow identifiers. Mobile lifecycle research and industry onboarding data both point toward the same underlying pressure: process termination and data loss are common rather than exceptional in production Android applications, deployment automation remains comparatively rare across studied codebases, and identity-verification abandonment has climbed as onboarding friction increases. What existing literature has not yet drawn together is how SDK isolation, explicit state modeling, adaptive retrieval, and idempotent recovery combine into one coherent verification-orchestration framework suited to mission-critical commerce and regulated healthcare contexts. This article develops that framework, positions it against mobile lifecycle management and distributed systems literature, and proposes an evaluation model spanning completion rate, recovery success, and duplicate-session frequency. The resulting architecture allows a mobile commerce platform to extend identity verification to account recovery, healthcare eligibility, and financial onboarding without binding the application to one provider's implementation details.
