Abstract

This research paper examines the strategic evolution of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, focusing on the critical role of Human Resource Management (HRM) and Human Resource Development (HRD) capabilities. As India solidifies its position as the premier global GCC hub, the talent landscape is shifting from low-cost arbitrage to high-value, innovation-driven technical and leadership capabilities. This study analyses the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) alongside the political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental (PESTLE) factors influencing Indian GCCs. By exploring skills upgradation frameworks and evaluating four distinct corporate case studies—TechnoGlobal India, FinStream GCC, HealthTech Solutions, and AutoDrive Digital—this paper identifies how robust HR frameworks mitigate structural talent deficiencies. The paper offers strategic recommendations for HR leaders to build sustainable talent pipelines, concluding that proactive HRD interventions are essential to sustain India’s competitive advantage in the global knowledge economy.
