Abstract

Advances in optical networking have lead to the explosive growth of communication network. Telecom applications began to drive significant investments into this field to support the perceived need for dynamic network and wavelength reconfigurability in wavelength division multiplexing system (WDM). This system is developed using reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexes (9ROADMs) and optical cross connects (OXCs) using tunable lasers. Enterprise gets advantage of reduction in operational cost in such flexible fiber optic network. Tunable laser can reduce operational cost and also support full band tunability over 40.6nm bandwidth centered with low power consumption (less than 2.5w). Ultimately, the performance of optical N/W with existing fiber is improved.
